Apparently I was very lucky to escape the long queues to this gem of a Vietnamese eatery hidden inside Joo Chiat some time back. Unknown to us, it is a very popular place with great food, low prices and a vibe reminiscent to my Vietnam backpacking trip years ago.
PRAWN ROLLS (4 for S$6, 6 for S$9)
Of course we had to start with the prawn rolls 🙂 These are generously sized rolls and filled with fresh prawns and vegetables, and not overflowing with too much rice noodles. Dip into the sauce (sweet sauce with peanut, garlic purée and chilli) and enjoy a satisfying bite into this roll of goodness.
Pho Kho (Beef Noodle Soup) $6
The base here is not as heavily flavored as some other establishments, a little light on taste. But nonetheless a deliciously heart-warming, and noodles was light and smooth.
Chicken Noodle Soup (Pho Ga) $5
This Chicken Noodle Soup (Pho Ga) has got to be my new favorite chicken noodles in town. The broth is absolutely tasty and the noodles are super soft (I like!). I had to control myself from slurping down the whole bowl.
The black coffee drip you see behind, has a wonderful aroma of vanilla. For a Kopi-O-Kesong person like me, it adds a taste of luxury to a simple cuppa.
Rating 9.10 (Great Value For Money place)
