Jaded by the usual cocktail concoctions of the 90s and early 2000s, the cocktails at Tess Bar & Kitchen have definitely changed my idea of what cocktails should be like (and should have been!). No surprise as ex-Bitters & Love bartender Steve Leong (a winner of one of Diageo Reserve World Class’ Singapore rounds in 2013) heads one of Singapore’s hippiest watering holes.
TESS MOJITO $17 Brugal Especial rum, mint tea with fresh lime and a pinch of salt
2 A.M. $21 Tequilla Reposado, St. Germain elderflower liqueur, lemon, egg white with homemade ginseng bitters
TESS SLING $21 Bankes gin, Cointreau, guava juice, homemade rosemary syrup, fresh lemon and grapefruit bitters. Tribute to Singapore’s National Day! With a kitschy cute merlion biscuit!
Their kitchen is also know for their Spanish delights, which we did not manage to try that evening. Will have to come back to try!
Update on Dec 2014 – I did manage to come back with my colleagues for the Christmas Set Lunch. Thumbs up for the amazing dishes. Look forward to coming back to Tess. Christmas Set Lunch
