Value Set Lunch at Malones Irish Restaurant & Bar

A quick visit to Molly Malone’s at 313 today for lunch after spotting their decently priced lunch sets starting from $5.90++ (including soup of the day and a soft drink)

I ordered the chicken with aglio olio ($8.90), and was pleased with the al dente pasta and decently tender roasted thigh (with crispy skin!).  Forgot to request the salad dressing to be done away with (ouch with the calories).

My colleague ordered the beef pastrami sandwich with fries ($9.90). It was served freshly toasted with a nice bite to it with all the mix of textures (toasted bread, meat & tomatoes). The fries also came out nice and hot, slightly crisp (not soaking in oil).

We also ordered a salad to share ($5.90), nothing much to rave about as with most salads in Singapore. Typical lettuce and tomatoes with too much dressing.

Soup of the day (with each of the above meals) was Cream of Mushroom. It was more starchy than creamy, and we added lots of black pepper to make it palatable.

Soup of the Day

All in all, for we thought for the price of $8.90++ and $9.90++ for soup, main (meat) and a soft drink, it was a very decent value meal for a quick lunch.  Service was friendly enough and rather fast as the place was empty. Just next door is Marche’s roast chicken lunch set meal with a drink $9.90++, which is definitely worth a try.

At night, Malone’s @ 313 operates more as a pub than a dining location. The wings that we tried were not that great, we still prefer the one’s at No. 5.   For now, this will just be added to one of our lunch options.
