Triple Three Buffet, A Visual Feast at Mandarin Orchard

With the recent 1-for-1 buffet lunch promotion, we made a trip down to Triple Three at Mandarin Orchard Singapore recently to check it out. Instead of boring you with the descriptions of everything (which I couldn’t possible manage to try everything anyway), here’s more a visual feast to check out their lunch buffet offerings during this period.

First stop. Cold crab, prawns and mussels station.

Then to the sushi & sashimi counter of course. There is salmon belly if you ask them.

Chicken and squid teppanyaki station.

Chicken and squid teppanyaki station. I didn’t have the space to try it but it smelt really nice as I walked past it.

The deep fried capelin (or shishamo) was very good. Huge and fried well. Had a few rounds of this with the mayo sauce.

We loved the rich carbonara sauce, full of cheesy goodness, and the tortellini was not dry and mealy on the inside.

No pics of the soup here but it was not too bad. Wish there was more offal in the soup though. Rather peppery which I like.

Broth is light, noodles are soft, but I thought th beef was a tad tough and some parts were impossible to chew through.

I really like the burnt ends of the roast beef, that fatty and crispy part. The chicken was well roasted - moist and tender. I asked them for the Bishop's nose and it was funny to see the staff try to dissuade me from it saying that there is no meat there. But it's the best part of a roasted chicken isn't it? :)

Mee goreng, Hainanese lamb stew, Hainanese Chicken Curry - all of which I had no more space to try :(

There was a lot more stations with fruit juice, breads, salads, cold cuts, local kuehs…. wish I could have tried them all!  Lunch is $68++ but once in a while there is a 1-for-1 which makes it a good deal. Remember to call them for reservations, it is packed with deal seekers when this happens.

My list of must tries: Cold Crab Roast Beef Capelin Garlic cheese Pasta Indian food Ice cream Wish I could have tried: Cold prawns Teppanyaki squid Cheese sausages Mee goreng More cheese!

My Rating 8/10 for the 1-for-1 deal
Food – for such a huge variety, it is generally decent to very good (depends on the items)
Service – quite fast to clear plates and offer water bowls until they hit the peak crowd
Place – We hated the heavy chairs. Probably meant to discourage diners from moving in and out the table to get more food we reckon. However we got a table next to the windows, very nice.
