Tucked away in the 2nd floor of Orchard Gateway is Supply & Demand, a cosy looking place as you walk past it. We finally decided to try it for lunch, and was overall quite pleased with the food there.
From the Italian Lunch Menu, we got the Carte Blanche Chicken Set. We like the 3 mini appetizers that came with it (olives, pickles? & cheese) and was very pleasantly surprised at the huge portion of chicken (half chicken) that was served up. The meat was tender and the chips were generously cut, fresh and crisp.
For the Asian inspired set, we had rempeyek (very nice and cripsy), samosa (taste is so so) and achar. The curry chicken is supposed to be cooked in oriental style (whatever that means). It’s like a dry curry style with lots of onions but without the major flavors that I’m used with the Malay/Indian/Thai curries. It’s more reminiscent of my mum’s home-cooked lemon grass curry chicken as a kid. It’s not particularly spicy either. However it is served hot & the portion is pretty large specially with the rice and fried egg. Likely to put you into a food coma after lunch.
The healthiest amongst us ordered the la carte Caesar Salad. It also had a smattering of the cripsy rempeyek and crispy bacon (not sure about being that healthy afterall!) and large egg with soft yolk 🙂
Overall we were quite pleased with the food portion and quality, and we are making a mental note to come back again. The main gripes we had was the crazy air-con blasting over our heads in the inside sitting area & the noise (until we decided to move to the tables outside), and curious how the staff managed not to offer water / realise we were thirsty till end of the meal.
Overall experience 6.5/10
